Happy Halloween....

On time as usual. I really need to make a resolution to post more of the work I do. I drew this zombie around Halloween and never got around to posting it. Better late than never eh?

...and More Darkstalkers Sketch Ideas

Got a new computer here at work a few days ago and have been cleaning out random folders where I had archived junk...I am such am image pack rat. I was actually toying around with the idea of doing bb hood for my Darkstalkers tribute entry. Never got past the idea stage but I thought I would post them up anyway. A bit more refined than some of my other studies in comparison. I find that the less certain I am about an idea the more I tend to noodle it. Enjoy.

There has been an on going art trade here at work. Here are a few I have traded away. I'll post up the trades people drew for me very soon. More to come!

Floating Bull Gumdrop-opus

quick little photoshop sketch I have done in small 10 minute increments over the last 2 weeks here at work. I didn't realize how much it looks like cow from a project I worked on back in college(pajama gladiator)until I was almost done with it. It at least gives me something to post that I don't have to scan in.

Darkstalkers Entry (EDIT: ROUGHS ADDED AT BOTTOM)

I just remembered this morning that I never posted my accepted entry to the Darkstalkers contest on the blog. I had a lot of fun working on this and want to thank Udon for the awesome book. If you haven't seen it yet you should go check it out here. I have a couple more doodles and ideas of other characters that I was toying with for the contest that I will post but I need to dig them up first. I was also wondering if anyone would be interested in seeing my rough ideas for this image? I have quite a few that show how I work in the beginning stages before I take it into Photoshop.

ROUGHS
not the most beautiful sketches in the world but you can see the progression of the idea starting from top left and moving horizontal left down to the bottom right where I took it to photoshop to finish. I try to keep these kind of sketches really quick and really rough so I don't get attached to anything more than the broad strokes and the big picture of what I am working on. Normally won't spend more than a couple minutes on each image.

I MADE IT!!!!

I was super excited when Udon came out with this contest. I always loved the the game and the Darkstalkers character designs. I played it often in my younger years at the local burger joint. My Sasquatch entry will be in the Darkstalkers tribute book coming out later this year. I can't post my entry that got in as per the contest rules but I can post the one I started and was planning on submitting but never finished until the contest was already over. Enjoy my lateness.

life drawings from my drawing book

People I have seen at crosswalks. Good place to observe people being very alert...or people alerted by me staring at them.

Pig People of Padulang

Work drawing challenge time! Another topic from the AVA blog. I also posted up some of my rough/quick sketches that I use to figure out my image. If you look close you can see the influence that bled over from each one of the sketches into the final image. Enjoy.

life drawings from my book

I am coming to that point again where my drawing book is more than half full and I haven't post a single image...Shame to me. So I will get started with a few life drawings from the holiday season. The woman on the left was drawn while waiting in the parking lot of a grocery store for my wife to buy a few last minute things. Both of my girls where asleep in the car so I felt like I should take advantage of the silence and draw the amazing people who only come out to during the holidays. The skinny guy on the right is from the Oakland airport. I was stuck there until very late one night due to weather delays.
